With everyone focusing on Christmas shopping, and capturing their piece of the massive amount of spending that is going on, it is nice to see Bing looking ahead, even if only a week past Christmas. Bing has just published a quick guide on how to capitalize on the New Year’s Resolutions that everyone will be making come January 1st. If you think this is unimportant compared to the Christmas shopping, you might be interested in hearing that people spend about $5.6 Billion on resolutions each year.
One of the nicest things about this type of spending is that it is very focused on only a handful of difference areas. This makes it much easier for marketers to identify a nice and run with it.
To start with, Bing published a list of the top ten resolutions from 2014, which you can see here:
- Lose Weight
- Get Organized
- Spend Less, Save More
- Enjoy life to the fullest
- Stay Fit and Healthy
- Learn Something Exciting
- Quit Smoking
- Help others in Following their Dreams
- Fall in Love
- Spend more Time with Family
Just about all marketers can find a way to fit their products into one of these categories, so why not give it a try?
It’s not just January 1st
To get the best results, simply find a good niche from the above list, and see where you can fit yourself in. While people typically start their resolutions on January 1st, you can continue to capitalize on the trend for at least a month. Quitting smoking, for example, is a huge niche. Check out the spike in searches toward the end of January (likely when people are really starting to crave a cigarette). This is from the Bing search engine:
Of course, there are different times that will benefit you for every niche. With a little research, you can find exactly how and when to run your ads to get the best results. In addition, you can identify which specific phrases people are typing in, and work from there to run extremely targeted campaigns that will get you the results you need.
As Bing suggests, starting now with your research will give you plenty of time to ensure you are able to get your ads created and ready to run in time for this huge New Year’s spending spree. For a savvy marketer, this will help them to start 2015 off on a very positive note, right after ending 2014 with successful Christmas season profits.
